  • Michigan hosts an improved Purdue team

    Line: Michigan -13 1/2  Total 53

Weather: Expected to be in the 40′s with a chance of showers.

Off a bye, 6-1 Michigan looks to get back to winning ways when hosting a resurgent 4-3 Boilermaker team who has played very well in their last 3 including a victory over favored Illinois last week. Purdue suffered early in the season with the loss of QB Henry and has relied on a run game that averages 190 yards per game to take the pressure of an improving QB Terbush. Two weeks ago, Purdue gave a give account of themselves as a 12 point dog at Penn State. This week, the role is similar with Purdue getting 13 1/2 from Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Michigan’s offense puts a lot of pressure on the front four to control running lanes because once QB Robinson gets into the secondary there are very few who can catch him. Although Purdue has given up on ly 3.5 yards per carry in conference play, they do not possess the speed in the front seven to avoid giving up big plays against Michigan so expect I expect the Wolverines to have a good day on offense. The key for Purdue to stay in this game relies on the ability of their offensive line to open up holes to maintain possessions against a pretty stout defensive line led by Mike Martin. Michigan has done a good job at the point of attack all year and although Purdue’s passing game has improved, it is still not consistent enough to make plays in key situations. Purdue should control the ball some as they did against Penn State, but will they score enough to cover is your decision.
