  • Big Game in MAC Tonight

Toledo hosts Northern Illinois with the winner being the most likely champion of the MAC West. Toledo’s big win at Temple earlier this year has people excited about their chances in this one so much that they are an 9 point favorite over a Huskie team that has a very good offensive line and a QB that can run or pass. The betters are doubting the Huskie defense which has been very inconsistent at times this year can get it down on the road. They have given up over 40 points twice this year and gave up 30 to Buffalo last week . However, their defense stepped up against Western Michigan in their only other “major” conference game. Toledo posseses a balanced offense and blocks very well downfield turning turn quick throws into first downs. The Toledo defensive line played great at Temple shutting down RB Pierce which is something that is hard to do. The Rocket defense has had several key injuries and a few of those players are back. They will need it going against QB Harnish who is very mobile and will make you pay if you get out of your rushing lanes on passing downs.

In last year’s game, the Huskies came in the much more experienced team and beat the Rockets handily. This year, I was hoping for a lower line because I thought the balance on offense and the play of the defensive line for Toledo was enough to get passed Northern Illinois. But it seems that I was not the only one thinking this way and the line appears to be correctly priced in my opinion.

Collegefootballbreakdown will gladly sit and watch this one as a fan. If Northern Illinois loses they will be virtually eliminated from winning the division which may have some effects going forward.
