  • Oklahoma State crushes Baylor, 59-24

Stillwater-Oklahoma State scored at will with big plays and came up with key defensive plays like a first quarter goal line stand to limit Baylor who had 622 yards of offense to only 24 meaningless points. Every minute of this game had a team moving the ball. The difference was that the Cowboy drives were touchdowns. Oklahoma State scored 6 unanswered touchdowns to open up a 42-0 lead thanks to a balanced attack that produced 327 yards rushing. The time of possession rather than the total yards from scrimmage tells the more accurate story of the game. Baylor held the ball almost 39 minutes while the Cowboys needed only 21 minutes to score their 59 points. That’s how easy points came for the Cowbowys who remain unbeated at 8-0 and raned 3rd in the nation according the BCS. With LSU and Bama playing this weekend, according to BCS experts, Oklahoma State will be ranked number 2 after this weekend. Even though Stanford has moved up to 4, if the Cowboys win out, the BCS experts believe that the Cowboys will always remain in front of the Cardinal unless there is a major change in the human polls.
Bottom Line: Baylor’s offense can move the ball but the inability to get the yards needed on the ground prevents them from extending drives and scoring in the red zone. Their defense just had no answer and has clearly detiorated as the season continues. For the Cowboys, their ability to show great athleticism and to make big plays on defense is overshadowing their lack of stoutness at the line.
